Nurses go on strike to protest working conditions, heavy caseloads

NURSES GO ON STRIKE TO PROTEST WORKING CONDITIONS, HEAVY CASELOADS.

Nurses went on strike across Israel on Tuesday after negotiations between the National Nurses Union and the Health Ministry broke down the day before. The nurses are protesting what they say are poor working conditions, heavy caseloads and low standards of care.

The strike began at 7 a.m. and impacts nursing services at hospitals and health clinics across the country where nurses will only offer reduced services.

Emergency treatment, including surgeries, will still be available. Other essential services, such as care for hospitalized patients, intensive care, neonatal care, oncological treatment and dialysis, would be available, but limited. In nursing schools, staff would not work. Geriatric and psychiatric facilities will continue to function, but service will be limited.

“The health and finance ministries are directly responsible for the intolerable queues in providing health care to the public and community. They crea…

JOHESU Urges Ministry To Address Unresolved Labour Issues -By Chioma Umeha

Com. Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, Chairman, Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), has urged the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) to comply with all judgments of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) issued on March 28, 2019 pertaining to the payment of outstanding 2018 salaries to members and actualising the adjustment of CONHESS Scale pending for many years.

Josiah made the appeal when he led a delegation of JOHESU/ Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations (AHPA) national leadership on a courtesy visit to Abdullahi Abdulkadir, the Permanent Secretary, FMoH last Thursday, in Abuja.

He told the Perm Sec that contrary to the pervading impression that JOHESU does not believe in dialogue, members had always excelled in the finest tenets of rules of engagement to ensure the stability and growth of the health sector.

He then intimated him of some of the lingering welfare challenges of JOHESU members whic…

UNVEILING THE NMCN ONLINE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS

Recall that in 2017, in a similar workshop, calls were made to take License Renewal digital and to have a platform for the tracking of Nurses Home and abroad. This gave birth to Professional Update Form (PUF)

And all Nurses linked to NMCN in one way or the other were mandated to complete the PUF

However, PUF is ongoing for those who haven't done theirs because "no PUF means no more license renewal"

Almost two years later after the roll out of PUF, NMCN has finalized and launched the 100% online renewal of license and possible change of Name (for only concerned female Nurses)

The objectives of this lecture by the end of this lecture, listeners are expected to:

Demonstrate optimal knowledge and skills on Online License Renewal of licenseDemonstrate optimal knowledge and skills on Online change of nameAppreciate NMCN effort in making this dream a reality Shun every act of corruption in respect to license renewal?

GRADUATE NURSES WERE DISGRACED TODAY OUT OF THE SCREENING HALL AT UNIVERSITY OF BENIN TEACHING FOR NOT HAVING RN AND RM

The graduate Nurses, most of who have their RN without RM have been thrown into sadness following the act of the Head of Department of Nursing, University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

The Head of Nursing Department of the Hospital, was vehement on candidates having RN and RM and this is a pointer to the fact that the innate discrimination against this set of Nurses have eaten rather deep into the senses of some Nurses.

"We don't want people who will come to fight management for not properly placing them" This was the take of one of the senior Nurses involved in the screening.

But if they don't employ these "foot soldiers" as they implied graduate Nurses are, who would fight the very many anomalies the profession is facing? Who would help keep our profession safe from intruders and maligners? Who would remain firm in the face of adversity wh…
