He said the election was not free, fair and that it was full of many irregularities. The former Vice President, therefore, said that he would challenge the outcome in court. He said, “if I had lost in a free and fair election, I would have called the victor within seconds of my being aware of his victory to offer not just my congratulations, but my services to help unite Nigeria by being a bridge between the North and the South. “However, in my democratic struggles for the past three decades, I have never seen our democracy so debased as it was on Saturday, February 23, 2019. 2007 was a challenge, but Pre…

OPINION: NURSES AND MIDWIVES UNIFORM SHOULD BE CHANGE (YES OR NO)

Image
NURSES AND MIDWIVES UNIFORM SHOULD BE CHANGE
REASON WHY NURSES AND MIDWIVES UNIFORM SHOULD BE CHANGE.
1. Nurses should have different Uniform from White as white become symbol of all health related profession and quacks

2. To rise the profile and status of Nurses start with proper identification and Uniform is first Identification.

3. It will provide self confidence to Nurses.

4. Let's leave white for ceremonial events and programs.

5.  White has been observed to be easily stained by blood and other body fluid that is why Navy blue, Sky blue and green colours  were proposed to be used by nurses across the globe because even if they are heavily  stained by blood or other body fluid it  can not be easily identified and they are less glaring to the eye (reflecting)

6. lets there an over all color, this chosen color shld be use in hospital premises

8. let there be UNIT specific scrub as A&E staff use in there unit, Paediatric unit shld have there own color diff with odas and O&G staff…

LEADERSHIP IN NURSING - BY NURSE RABI'U H. MUSA

LEADERSHIP IN NURSING
INTRODUCTION: The successful organization has one major attribute that sets it apart from unsuccessful organization; that is the dynamic and effective leadership. Leadership has probably been written about, formally researched and informally discussed more than any other single topic. Leadership still remains an unexplainable phenomenon.
Nursing is a major component of health care delivery system and nursing services are necessary for every client seeking care of any type including health promotion, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. So, the nurses must be good leaders and managers to provide quality care to the patients.
ETYMOLOGY The word leadership was first known to be used in 1765.  Etymologically, the term leadership was traced to “a prehistoric West and North Germaniclaithjan,” which was derived from laitho, meaning way or journey, from which comes the English word load, then, “lead which means cause to go along one’s way.”

12 Reasons Why You Should Marry A Nurse.
There are twelve fantastic reasons why marrying a nurse. Tell us if you agree!

1. COMPASSIONATE CARE
Providing care to others is the center of the nursing profession. Needless to say, this is the first reason why nurses make great partners. They naturally give compassionate care to the people they love.

 2. A GOOD LISTENER

Nurses are naturally sensitive and empathetic when listening to others. When you want to talk about a problem, a nurse might not successfully give you solutions but you will definitely feel less alone. Nurses are trained to communicate therapeutically and they know how to be a good listener.
3. INCREDIBLY PATIENT. Because of the nature of their work, nurses have an incredible amount of patience. Handling persistent rude patients is no-sweat for them so outside work, their patience becomes second nature.
 4. KNOWS WHEN TO WORRY Nurses witness a lot of medical cases at work. They know the right time to worry about your health and…

RESTRUCTURING TAKINN PLACE IN NURSINH; CHALLANGES AND POSSIBLE SOLUTION.

It is not a news to many nurses on the document that was release by NMCN on the restructuring taking place in nursing profession, this is what we have been yearning for many decades ago in order to allow for career progression and give specialty more recognition in the academic arena which will boost the image of nursing as every nurse will face his or her career as been practise by the doctors. I must commend NMCN particularly the secretary general who on his ascension to the office brought tremendous progress to nursing, "sir you may stumble on my article, I want to say thank you sir on behave of all Nigeria nurses, even though some may not see the good at the beggining" how ever we need to draw the attention of the council to the possible challenges and probable solution to them in my own opinion.

CHALLENGES
1. Dichotomy among nurses: After I read through the circular sent to teaching hospitals to aff…

Protest In University Of Medical Science, Akure Over Fake Nursing School Affiliation

PROTEST IN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE, AKURE CAMPUS/SCHOOL OF NURSING AKURE OVER FAKE AFFILIATION

Students of Ondo State University of Medical Sciences, Akure Campus protested regards the fake/purported affiliation given to former Ondo State School of Nursing, Akure.

The protest which started at exactly 6:00AM at the Akure Campus, all gate leading to the school gates were locked up and all educational activities were distorted.
Some protesting students said we have been affiliated they say, but we have been scammed through it,
Upper directives and power stated that, the affiliation should involve us and that qualifies us to graduate with our BnSc.

Suddenly not knowing to us, we were given an hidden name and we are called IPNME (Institute of Professional Nursing And Midwifery Education) which we confirmed later that is not in anyway registered and neither does Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) knows about it.

In the just concluded NUNSA (Nigeria University Nursing Students A…
